Let’s Talk About Sex, Baby.

27 Jun

At last weeks Girls Night, we had “Quiz Night.”  We took all sorts of revealing quizzes to see who would survive the longest on a desert island, who’s a good flirt, and how well you really know your friends.

We ended the night with “The Last Quiz,” which was chock full of questions about Girls Night and the youth group.  An evaluation of sorts.  I asked if the girls felt comfortable, accepted, and welcomed.  I asked what topics they wanted to talk about, what questions they had for me, and what we could do better.

EASILY 60% of the answers were about – you guessed it.  SEX.  Their questions were so honest and precious, and incredibly insightful.  Here are a few:

  • “How important is it to wait to have sex?”
  • “If you want to have sex with your boyfriend, but know you shouldn’t, how do you resist the urge?”
  • “I want to graduate high school a virgin, is it possible?”
  • “What is the best way to stay out of trouble with boys?”

Parents!  Talk to your kids about sex!  They need to know – they’re begging to know!  Sex is a beautiful, integral part of marriage, and a pervasive issue in our society.  We must address it!  Families need to, parents need to, the church needs to!

So, we’re going to! 🙂  Our next “series” at Girls Night is going to be about sex – we’ll answer all of these questions and more.  You won’t want to miss it!  Stay tuned.
